The Highland County ACCESS/Workforce Development Program offers opportunities for student success with hands-on workplace experience through internships. Local schools have selected the following Work-Based Learning participants as Students of the Month for January.
• Adrionna Phillips of Whiteoak High School works at Hillsboro Family Dentistry. She is a receptionist, but she spent her first 45 hours there as an intern.
Phillips has worked at the dental office five months. She loves the people she works with, and they are all supportive of her goal to become a dental hygienist.
• Kendal Welling of Fairfield High School is currently interning at Fairfield Elementary, where she supports young students in their daily activities. Her enthusiasm for early education is evident, as she interacts with the children and contributes to a positive learning environment.
