Here’s what Ohio law says about stopping for school buses and what can happen if you don’t

It happens all too often: a car failing to stop for a school bus. In her 29 years of driving, former bus driver and current assistant transportation supervisor for Miami Trace Local Schools, Tonya Camp, said she’s seen it countless times. “A lot,” Camp said. “A lot. I can’t even give a number to it.” The stop sign on a school bus may be smaller than the standard version on a street corner, but it carries the same weight. To Lt. John Warnecke with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, it’s one of the most important traffic laws people can follow.
