BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio-The Bellefontaine Board of Education convened at Bellefontaine Elementary School for their regular session, concluding their series of meetings in each school building. First-grade teacher Michaela Baker and high school teacher Jake Kennedy introduced the Chieftain Leadership Initiative, pairing first-grade students with high school mentors to provide leadership and mentoring in a supportive environment.
The Board praised the collaboration and likened it to a “Big Brothers and Big Sisters” program. Second-grade teachers Christi Dodds and Stacey Penhorwood showcased an end-of-year project integrating the new English Language Program. Students displayed various writings and creative projects, demonstrating their learning throughout the year in subjects such as human anatomy, Abraham Lincoln, seasons, and historical stories.
