CINCINNATI, Ohio-Christopher Hoeb, a father from Greater Cincinnati, has been sentenced to 7.5 to 10.5 years in jail after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of his 4-year-old daughter due to diabetes-related complications exacerbated by a diet primarily consisting of Mountain Dew. Hoeb’s daughter died in 2022 due to neglect of proper nutrition and medical care. Both Hoeb and the girl’s mother,
Tamara Banks, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges. Banks received a prison sentence of 9 to 13.5 years. Originally indicted on multiple charges including murder, the parents’ other charges were dismissed in exchange for their guilty pleas. They were the child’s sole caretakers, and despite finding her unresponsive in January 2022, they only called 911 three days later. The child was declared brain dead and taken off life support on January 24, 2022.
