BATAVIA, Ohio-Tamara Banks has been sentenced to nine years in prison after her 4-year-old child died from severe malnutrition, with her teeth rotted out. Banks was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, as the girl’s cause of death was determined to be diabetic ketoacidosis, a condition left undiagnosed and untreated over time.
Prosecutors argued that neglect and abuse from Banks and her partner, Christopher Hoeb, led to the girl’s death. The child was found unresponsive and eventually declared brain dead after being taken to the hospital. Prosecutors also claimed that the couple mainly fed their daughter Mountain Dew through a baby bottle, contributing to her deteriorating health.
