CLEVELAND, Ohio-Jurors awarded at least $12 million in compensatory damages to the estate of Jordan Rodriguez in a case against various defendants, including Nancy Caraballo, Larissa Rodriguez, Chris Rodriguez, Catholic Charities, MetroHealth, and Cuyahoga County’s Department of Children & Family Services. Caraballo, the assigned case worker, was found to have forged reports regarding welfare visits to the Rodriguez home.
The jury attributed different percentages of responsibility to each defendant based on their involvement in Jordan’s death. The breakdown of compensatory damages includes $6.24 million for Larissa Rodriguez, $1.8 million for the Department of Child and Family Services, $1.44 million for Christopher Rodriguez, $1.32 million for MetroHealth, $960,000 for Catholic Charities, and $240,000 for Nancy Caraballo. The possibility of awarding punitive damages will be considered in the next court session.
