16-year-old Manchester High School Student-Athlete Killed, Another Injured on Prom Night in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Meriwether County mourns the loss of Daryus Bryant, a Manchester High School student, who was fatally shot in Columbus on his prom night. Another student, Clarence Favors, was injured in the incident. Bryant, described as excelling in both athletics and academics, was remembered as humble and well-liked.

His father expressed grief over the loss, especially on the eve of Bryant’s 17th birthday. The shooting, occurring at an intersection, prompted Bryant’s father to call for stricter gun laws and political action. Bryant, known as “D-B,” was not involved in street gangs, according to his father, and had a promising future in sports with several college offers. His father delivered a message to the perpetrator, condemning the senseless violence and its impact on the community and Bryant’s family.
