Akron Children’s Hospital to Launch Pilot Program to Expand Access to Autism Care

AKRON, Ohio-Akron Children’s Hospital plans to launch a pilot program aimed at increasing access to autism care. The initiative, set to begin in August, will involve training primary care providers to diagnose and manage autism spectrum disorder (ASD) more effectively. This approach aims to reduce wait times for families seeking specialized autism services by empowering local pediatricians with enhanced skills and resources. The hospital intends to evaluate the program’s success in improving early detection and support for children with ASD across northeastern Ohio.
