BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-During a Bowling Green Board of Education meeting, retired administrator John Gehres expressed that while parents may find it challenging to consolidate smaller elementary schools into one building, children often benefit from such changes.
Gehres drew from his experience with Defiance City Schools, where residents faced reluctance to let go of their smaller schools. He noted that children generally adapt well to consolidated schools, while adults may struggle with the transition due to sentimental attachment to their neighborhood schools. Gehres emphasized the need for progress despite sentimental attachments to smaller schools.
