BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-Bowling Green Board of Education President Jill Carr called for community involvement in the district’s future during a meeting on Tuesday evening, inviting attendees to a crucial gathering on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. However, concerns arose later in the meeting when a citizen accused the board of violating Ohio Sunshine Laws by hiring a consultant without public discussion. I
n response to recent failed attempts to secure new buildings, Carr and Superintendent Francis Scruci outlined a new approach, emphasizing citizen involvement through the formation of committees on finances and facility planning. These committees will provide regular updates at monthly board meetings, and interested individuals can sign up at the central office or via email to Scruci. Scruci stressed the importance of moving forward despite past disappointments, emphasizing the need to collaborate with both supporters and opponents of the bond issue. The board and administration aim to facilitate a community-driven process, refraining from assigning committee members to maintain inclusivity.
