April 15th, 2024-BIDWELL, Ohio-Matthew Huck, a former teacher and wrestling coach at a Gallia County high school, has been indicted on rape and other sexual abuse charges, accused of abusing student athletes over a decade. Prosecutors allege Huck raped a teenager in 2004 and aided his then-wife, Michal Paige Huck, in engaging in sexual activity with two male students aged 13 to 16. Michal Paige Huck was indicted last August, with her trial ongoing.
Matthew Huck was arrested and held in Gallia County Jail pending a court date. The lawsuit against Gallia County Local Schools alleges administrators knew about the abuse but took no action for about 15 years. Huck, an agriculture teacher and wrestling coach, is described as a “former” employee, though his employment status is unconfirmed. The Hucks divorced in 2020. Special prosecutors thanked the victim for coming forward. Matthew Huck faces felony charges and could receive up to 26 years in prison if convicted. The civil lawsuit alleges the district knew about the abuse since 2004 but failed to investigate or report it.
