CINCINNATI, Ohio-Edward Murray, a 23-year-old man, appeared in court after being arrested for the murder of 21-month-old Kareem Keita in Westwood. Police responded to a home where Keita was found unresponsive, and despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
Prosecutors revealed Keita suffered severe injuries including skull fractures, liver lacerations, and brain swelling. Murray, the boyfriend of Keita’s mother, was accused of causing these injuries. His defense attorney argued against his criminal background and claimed any statements made to the police were coerced. Despite Keita’s mother’s disbelief in Murray’s guilt, the prosecution stated Murray admitted to throwing Keita against a wall. The judge set Murray’s bond at $1 million, with his next court appearance scheduled for May 20.
