MASON, Ohio-A teenager, identified as a junior at Mason High School, died in a wrong-way crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-71 in Deerfield Township early Thursday morning. The crash occurred around 1:39 a.m. when the teen’s Jeep Grand Cherokee, traveling in the wrong direction, collided head-on with the semi traveling southbound.
Both vehicles veered off the roadway after impact, with the tractor-trailer overturning. The driver of the semi sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mercy Health – Kings Mills, while the 17-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the teenager has not been released, and crisis support services have been arranged for students at Mason High School.
