When you go to a farmer’s market or pop-up shop in northeast Ohio a cucumber or some pickles could come from a young local farmer. A local organization in Cleveland is taking children from the streets and putting them on the farm, teaching them useful farming habits like pickling cucumbers. DeVont’e Calloway, 14, uses cucumbers and dill as the main ingredients in his pickles. He grows them himself and he’s the owner of Juices Pickles.
