COLUMBUS, Ohio-A teenage girl died following a fiery two-vehicle crash in west Columbus. The crash occurred at the intersection of West Mound Street and South Highland Avenue just before 12:30 p.m. One of the vehicles caught fire. The collision involved a brown Hyundai Sonata and a silver Lincoln MKC traveling east on West Mound Street.
The victim, identified as 14-year-old Haleigh Abshire, was pulled from one of the vehicles and taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, where she later died. Another pedestrian, also a juvenile, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Multiple individuals fled the scene.
