RAVENNA, Ohio-Ravenna City Schools announced significant changes to its transportation policy, citing budget constraints. High school students will no longer receive bus services, and elementary and middle school students living within a half-mile radius of their schools will need to walk. Interim Superintendent Ben Ribelin emphasized that these cuts are part of a deficit reduction plan submitted to the state. Families affected will be notified within two weeks, while students attending specific schools will continue to receive busing as mandated by the state. Ribelin noted that an emergency levy on the November ballot could potentially restore busing services, though past levies have not been successful in Ravenna for nearly two decades.
