CINCINNATI, Ohio-A group of 14 high school students participated in the Bigger Than Sneakers (BTS) Academy, where they spent three weeks learning about shoe and clothing design, alongside developing a business strategy for their fashion line. The academy culminated in presentations to a panel of judges. Mariam Barry, a 15-year-old junior from Walnut Hills, found the experience enriching, describing it as the highlight of her summer. The program provided valuable connections and practical skills, including using design software on iPads provided to each student. BTS Academy, founded by Matt Tomamichel, aims to go beyond footwear retail by fostering entrepreneurial skills in young participants.
