Youngstown Schools to Use Speed Cameras Again

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio-Speed cameras will resume operation when Youngstown City Schools start on September 4. The cameras were previously turned off while the city addressed how citations could be contested in court. Magistrates will now handle cases at night, and the revenue from fines will be shared among the court, the city, and the camera supplier. During the first two weeks of school, only warnings will be issued. Starting August 18, fines will be imposed: $100 for speeding 6-14 mph over the limit, $125 for 15-20 mph over, and $150 for speeds exceeding 20 mph. The goal is to ensure safety for students, parents, and school staff.
