As Columbus Schools Looks at Closing Schools, it Already Maintains 12 Closed Properties

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Columbus City school board is considering closing up to 20 schools as part of a plan presented by the Superintendent’s Community Facilities Task Force. The district already owns a dozen properties that are not in use for educational purposes, costing nearly $400,000 annually to maintain.

These properties include vacant schools, annexes, and lots, with some generating rental income. The decision on school closures will depend on factors like building utilization, transportation data, and renovation needs.
