“She’s not Going in the Boys Bathroom.” Ohio Mom Speaks Out Against Transgender Bathroom Ban Bill

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Bradie Anderson, a 14-year-old transgender sophomore in Northeast Ohio, fears for her safety if forced to use the boys’ bathroom due to recent legislation banning transgender individuals from using facilities aligning with their gender identity. Her mother, Anne, emphasizes the potential harm and lack of oversight in enforcing such laws, expressing concern for all children’s safety regardless of gender identity. The American Medical Association opposes such policies, emphasizing access to facilities based on gender identity. Bradie, who faced discrimination previously and advocates against anti-transgender bills, experiences anxiety due to ongoing harassment and legislative scrutiny affecting her soccer participation and emotional well-being. Despite challenges, Bradie and her family remain determined to stay in their community and fight against discrimination.
