CINCINNATI, Ohio-Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) received a 2.5 out of 5 stars on the Ohio State Report Card for the 2023-2024 school year, an improvement from last year’s 2-star rating. The rating covers five categories: Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing, Graduation, and Early Literacy. CPS scored above 2 stars only in Gap Closing, with a 3-star rating, indicating it meets state standards in closing educational gaps. It received 2 stars in Progress, Achievement, and Early Literacy. The district’s Graduation rate, however, received just 1 star, indicating significant challenges in meeting state standards. Graduation rates improved slightly from the previous year, with 82.5% of students graduating in four years and 84.6% in five years. Early Literacy showed improvement with a 2-star rating, up from 1 star last year, reflecting a rise in literacy rates from 58% to 64.9%. Interim Superintendent Shauna Murphy noted progress in key areas and committed to further improvements despite ongoing challenges.
