CINCINNATI, Ohio-Edward Murray, 23, from Ohio, is accused of murdering his girlfriend’s toddler son, Kareem Keita, aged 1. Kareem was found unresponsive at home and later pronounced dead in a Cincinnati hospital on May 5. Murray was arrested and indicted on several charges, including murder.
The child suffered severe injuries including cardiac arrest, brain injury, fractured rib, lacerated liver, and brain swelling, deemed consistent with violent impacts. Murray allegedly spent time alone with Kareem before he was found unresponsive. Aminata Keita, Kareem’s mother, was dating Murray at the time. Murray has been indicted on charges of murder, assault, and child endangerment and is held on $1 million bail. The case has been described as heartbreaking and disturbing by the Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Powers. Murray’s legal representation and plea are unclear.
