COLUMBUS, Ohio-A 2-year-old child was severely injured in an assault on Tuesday night in the Far South neighborhood. A man, later identified as Andre Sallee, forced his way into an apartment on Ship Mill Street, demanding the victim’s phone. When she refused, he attempted to steal a television and assaulted her when she threatened to call the police. Sallee allegedly punched the woman multiple times and kicked her before fleeing the scene.
The child, who was being held by the woman during the assault, sustained a skull fracture and brain bleeding and was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Sallee was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, with a $1 million bond set by a Franklin County Municipal judge. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 3 for a preliminary hearing.
