3 Confirmed Cases of Chickenpox at Middle school in Lake County

MADISON, Ohio-Madison Local Schools in Lake County has reported three confirmed cases of chickenpox, according to a Facebook post. The district’s nursing staff is investigating the situation, but the Lake County General Health District (LCGHD) does not classify it as an outbreak since there are fewer than five cases. In the event of an outbreak, LCGHD would implement additional measures. Superintendent Angela Smith emphasized that vaccination is the best defense against the virus, noting that while vaccinated children can still contract chickenpox, the cases are typically milder. Symptoms include fever, loss of appetite, headache, skin rash, cough, and fatigue. For further information, the district provided a link to additional resources.
