Akron Public Schools Superintendent Says, ‘No One Should be Going to their Union Rep’

AKRON, Ohio-Akron Public Schools Superintendent Michael Robinson issued a statement warning staff against bypassing established protocols for reporting issues in schools by going to union representatives. He emphasized that concerns should be addressed directly to school administrators, stating that failure to follow these protocols could lead to disciplinary action. The statement comes amid concerns raised in a news article about the rollout of full-day pre-kindergarten classes, where teachers reported insufficient staffing and neglect of students’ needs. The district plans to investigate these complaints, asserting a commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students. The Akron Education Association is preparing a response to the superintendent’s remarks.
