Alexander School District is Putting a Renewal of its Income Tax Levy Back on the Ballot

ALBANY, Ohio-The Alexander school district plans to seek voter approval for the renewal of its income tax levy for the third time in November. Despite facing previous rejections, the school board unanimously agreed to pursue the levy again. The levy, initially passed in 2019 after multiple attempts, is set to expire in December.

Superintendent William Hampton and the board have devised plans for potential outcomes, including measures to address budget constraints if the renewal fails. While considering options like ending open enrollment and reducing electives, the district aims to make gradual changes rather than immediate drastic cuts. Hampton reassures that the district is not in a crisis but emphasizes the importance of securing levy renewal for future stability.
