ATHENS, Ohio-Athens County student-athletes participated in regional track and field meets, with some securing spots at the state tournament. At the Division II New Concord Regionals. In the boys’ events, Alexander’s Jake Roush finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles.
For the girls, Athens’ Bella Sutton competed in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash prelims, finishing 13th and 14th respectively. Jillian Bourque placed 13th in the 400-meter dash prelims. Olivia Smart placed sixth in the 1600-meter run. Sophia Szolozi won the 3200-meter run, qualifying for states. Adelaide Littell placed 12th in the 300-meter hurdles prelims. Athens’ 4×200 meter relay team qualified for states with a second-place finish. The 4×800 meter relay team won the event and set a new school record, also qualifying for states. Abby Stroh placed 13th in the high jump.
