BG Schools Gets $3.2M Grant to Help Air Condition Buildings

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-Bowling Green City School District has received $3.2 million in funding to install air conditioning systems in three school buildings. These systems will include mini split systems to provide both cooling and ionization to improve air quality. The funding aims to address the need for better ventilation, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The district plans to have the air conditioning systems installed by next spring.

Treasurer Cathy Schuller mentioned that other district funds may cover the remaining costs. Additionally, the board discussed gathering input from teachers and community members regarding building needs, with Fanning Howey Associates assisting in planning services. Various facility issues, including dealing with Army Worms on the softball field and addressing water seepage on the tennis courts, were also mentioned during the meeting.
