Board Member Looks at Changes in Education During his 28 Years on the Board

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio-Larry Walton, a longtime Board of Education member for East Liverpool City Schools, has dedicated nearly 30 years to the board, inspired by his commitment to students. Walton, encouraged to join by a former superintendent, has found fulfillment in seeing students graduate and staying involved with school activities, though he avoids interrupting classroom instruction. At nearly 90, Walton will retire at the end of his current term in December 2025.  He has worked to improve the district’s financial situation by seeking grants and alternative funding, as the district struggles with limited resources compared to wealthier districts. Walton reminisced about past programs like artist residencies that were cut due to funding constraints.
