Bodycam Captures Chillicothe Police Attacking Child Unprovoked

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio-The Chillicothe Police Department faces criticism following an incident where an officer allegedly pushed a distressed 10-year-old child during the arrest of their father, Jason Lytle, a now-convicted attempted murderer. The incident, captured on body camera footage, shows the child being shoved into an entertainment center. Although the child was uninjured, the incident raises concerns about officer training in handling children during traumatic events.

The altercation occurred during a domestic dispute at the Lincoln Park Apartment Complex, where Lytle allegedly assaulted the mother of his children. Additional officers were called to assist in subduing Lytle, who resisted arrest and managed to take an officer’s taser. Amidst the chaos, the child, restrained by his mother, approached the officers, prompting one officer to yell at him aggressively. Sergeant Samantha Taczak and Officer Katrina Hallam were seen charging towards the child, with one officer shoving him into the entertainment center. The Chillicothe Police Department stated that no disciplinary actions were taken against the officers involved.
