Bringing Dental Care to Kids in Schools Is Helping Take Care of Teeth Neglected in the Pandemic

April 8th, 2024-COLUMBUS, Ohio-Amber Warner, a 5-year-old, received dental check-up and sealants for the first time in the teachers lounge of a New Hampshire elementary school. Certified dental hygienist Mary Davis applied traditional dental sealants, ensuring proper placement by instructing Amber to bite down.

The visit lasted 15 minutes, and Amber was praised for her cooperation. This dental program is part of CariedAway New Hampshire, developed by NYU College of Dentistry, aimed at improving pediatric oral health in lower-income families. Similar programs exist in other states, including Boston and New York City, serving thousands of children.
