BUCKEYE, Ohio-Buckeye Local High School is introducing an agricultural education curriculum in the upcoming fall semester, following approval by school board officials. The program aims to incorporate various aspects of farming into the curriculum, tapping into the district’s rural setting and active 4-H participation. Cameron Best, a Buckeye Local alumnus, will lead the program on a part-time basis, leveraging his expertise.
With initial enrollment of around seven to ten students, the school anticipates growth as interest in agriculture increases among students. The program’s introduction aligns with the community’s focus on farming, offering opportunities for internships and partnerships with local farms. Additionally, the initiative opens doors for potential funding through grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other sources.
