COLUMBUS, Ohio-Columbus City Schools (CCS) is pushing back against Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost’s claims regarding its busing strategy. Yost had warned CCS that its decision to not transport certain students violated state law and threatened legal action. In response, CCS asserts that its busing policies comply with Ohio law and that Yost’s actions infringe on the district’s rights and the authority of the General Assembly. CCS argues it is not obligated to provide busing under the “30-minute rule” and that it properly notified parents and guardians according to legal requirements. The district disputes Yost’s claim that it failed to give timely notice, stating that the necessary resolution was passed within the required timeframe.
