COLUMBUS, Ohio-Brandon Simmons, a censured Columbus City Schools board member, released a statement addressing the leaked document he allegedly created and the public records he was ordered to share. He spent over four hours with legal counsel producing 70 pages of documents related to public records requests.
Simmons expressed regret for the existence of the document and apologized for his actions, also calling out other board members for their alleged involvement. Despite denials from other board members, Simmons claimed they were implementing parts of the document. The Columbus Education Justice Coalition called for Simmons’ removal from the board, stating that censure and removal from community assignments were insufficient.
