Centerburg Schools Permanent Improvement Levy Fails

CENTERBURG, Ohio-Centerburg voters rejected a 2.75-mill permanent improvement levy for the school district, with final unofficial results showing 1,170 votes for approval and 1,397 against.

The margin for a recount is half a percent, and if initiated, it would occur after official certification. If passed, the levy would have eased pressure on the general fund and addressed deficit spending. Centerburg Superintendent Ryan Gallwitz expressed appreciation for the levy committee’s efforts and acknowledged the need for difficult decisions moving forward to best serve students.
