Child Hospitalized After Water, Chemicals Thrown out Window: Report

WARREN, Ohio-What began as a report of a juvenile disturbance in Warren escalated when a five-year-old girl was hospitalized after being doused with hot water and suspected chemicals. Police were called to the 2900 block of Duke Avenue SE around 7 p.m. Thursday, where they found the girl outside, wet and shivering. Other juveniles claimed that while walking by, a man on the second floor threw a bucket of steaming water on her without provocation, after previously calling them “monkeys.” Police noted the bucket contained cleaning water, and officers detected a chemical smell in the air. Following the incident, two younger kids kicked open the man’s door in anger before fleeing. The girl was taken to the hospital for minor chemical burns on her arm.
