Cincinnati Children’s to Expand Clinical Trials With Launch of Applied Gene and Cell Therapy Center

CINCINNATI, Ohio-Cincinnati Children’s has initiated the development of an Applied Gene and Cell Therapy Center to enhance clinical trials for innovative drugs and biological therapeutics, particularly for cancer, blood diseases, and genetic disorders affecting children. The center aims to address the significant need for advanced treatments, with over 300,000 children diagnosed with cancer annually worldwide and millions born with birth defects.

Housed in Sharonville, Ohio, the 111,000-square-foot facility will also serve as a distribution hub for Cincinnati Children’s hospitals and locations. With about 100 employees, including 24 new recruits, the center will focus on preparing gene, cell, and immunotherapy products for clinical trials. This initiative builds upon the success of Cincinnati Children’s Translational Core Laboratory, reflecting the institution’s commitment to pediatric research and innovative healthcare. The expansion is expected to bolster the development and implementation of novel treatments, aligning with Cincinnati Children’s recognition as a leader in pediatric cancer care and innovation.
