CLEVELAND, Ohio-The Cleveland Metropolitan School District and the Cleveland Teachers Union have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract ahead of the expiration of the current one on June 30, 2024. The agreement aims to show respect to union members while supporting teacher retention and recruitment for the benefit of Cleveland’s students.
The deal will be presented to the Board of Education and CTU members by the end of the week, with approval or rejection expected during the week of May 13. This agreement is significant as the school district faces budget issues, with plans to trim $168 million over two years due to the absence of federal stimulus funds received during the COVID-19 pandemic.
