The Columbus City Schools Board of Education quickly rescinded its transgender bathroom policy Tuesday with no discussion after debating at the last meeting whether to defy a state law requiring it to change its policy.
Nearly a dozen students from schools across the district spoke up during the meeting, urging the school board to repeal the existing board policy while also doubling down on their support for the district’s transgender students. When the board voted to rescind the policy, the room broke out in applause.
