PARMA, Ohio-Parma Senior High School’s demolition process has raised concerns about valuable and sentimental items being left behind. Superintendent Dr. Charles Smialek assures steps were taken to remove such items with involvement from alumni associations and museum curators.
Despite efforts, some items deemed obsolete remained, prompting community feedback. The district retrieved significant items upon request and hosted auctions for salvaging. While some find it hard to bid farewell, others acknowledge the need to move on. Some, like Ed Gareau, appreciate preservation efforts, while others, like Andrew and Aiden Brent, document the demolition for memory’s sake. The building’s demolition is expected to conclude within the next two weeks.
