Covington Academy of Heritage Trades recognized by Cincinnati Preservation Association

CINCINNATI, Ohio-The Covington Academy of Heritage Trades, recognized by the Cincinnati Preservation Association, embodies a multifaceted strategy aimed at various goals. These include addressing the shortage of skilled tradespeople, preserving historic building techniques, restoring architectural treasures, inspiring small businesses, and boosting household incomes.

A partnership between the City of Covington and the Enzweiler Building Institute brought this initiative to life, combining classroom instruction with hands-on experience in a historic structure. The program’s success lies in its practical approach, providing students with the skills needed for historic restoration while modernizing properties. The association praised the initiative for addressing the decline in traditional craftsmanship and ensuring the preservation of historic buildings. Led by the Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky, the program’s curriculum covers areas like exterior carpentry, interior plaster, and building sciences.
