Crime 2 Teens in Custody After Crash Involving Suspected Stolen Vehicle in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio- Two teenage boys crashed a vehicle believed to be stolen in southeast Columbus on Wednesday night. Police spotted a stolen Kia Forte and a suspected stolen Ford Focus driving closely together. As officers attempted to pull them over, both vehicles fled at high speeds, evading a police chase but being monitored by a helicopter. After driving around various neighborhoods for about 15 minutes, the vehicles entered Buckeye Middle School grounds, where the Kia was abandoned. The helicopter tracked the Ford as it continued to drive recklessly before crashing at Linwood and Reinhard avenues. Both boys, aged 17, were arrested; the driver was hospitalized in stable condition, while the other was uninjured. No injuries were reported from the occupants of the other vehicle involved in the crash. The teens will face felony fleeing charges, with additional charges possible as the investigation continues. Local residents expressed concern about rising crime and the need for community action to address these issues.
