Driver Shortage May Force Change in Busing Boundaries

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-Bowling Green Superintendent Francis Scruci addressed the district’s persistent bus driver shortage, which led to operational challenges and two uncovered routes last school year. Efforts to recruit drivers and consolidate routes have been unsuccessful.

Scruci anticipates proposing a change in the bus transportation area from one to two miles from school at the July board meeting, potentially eliminating five routes but still leaving a shortage of two drivers. This decision is reluctantly considered to ensure the operations secretary can manage parent calls efficiently.
