LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio -Kaitlyn Hyde has been charged with vehicular homicide for fatally hitting 15-year-old Aspen Runnels in May while driving negligently. Hyde, who was adjusting her baby’s pacifier at the time, struck Runnels as he crossed the street near Lakota East’s freshman campus. Runnels died a week later from his injuries. The community has since called for enhanced traffic safety measures around the school, including better infrastructure and increased police presence. A petition advocating for these changes has gained significant support.
