East End School Closes For Good in Clinton County

WILMINGTON, Ohio-East End School in Wilmington, operating for nearly a century, has closed down permanently. The decision was made by Wilmington City Schools to sell the building and lot, aiming to save around $100,000 annually in operational costs. Originally an elementary school, it had transitioned to a preschool in recent years.

Preschool students will now relocate to Holmes Elementary School, a move aligned with research suggesting smoother transitions to kindergarten when preschool and kindergarten are in the same building. Despite being set to open in 1929, severe weather postponed East End School’s inauguration until January 1930.
