East Toledo Man Convicted of Murder for Killing His 10-Month-Old Son

TOLEDO, Ohio-Ahmad Williams, a 23-year-old East Toledo man, was convicted by a Lucas County jury for the murder and felonious assault of his 10-month-old son, Messiah Williams, who died in August 2022. The verdict followed a weeklong trial. As Judge Stacy Cook announced the guilty verdicts, the victim’s loved ones, present in the gallery, reacted emotionally.

The prosecution expressed satisfaction with the outcome. The incident began when Sophina Hamilton, a neighbor, found RaSandra Ensley, Williams’ partner, shouting for help while holding Messiah, who was struggling to breathe. Despite Hamilton’s attempts to administer CPR, the baby passed away at the hospital a few days later. Before his death, Messiah had a congenital defect and used a feeding tube. Williams was alone with Messiah and his siblings when the incident occurred shortly after a physical therapy session for the baby.
