EUCLID, Ohio-Missing just two days a month from school can severely impact student success, with economically disadvantaged or homeless students more likely to be chronically absent. In 2021, Euclid City Schools faced a chronic absenteeism rate of 72.7%, significantly higher than the state average of 30%. To address this, the district has partnered with the Cleveland Browns’ “Stay In The Game” initiative and Harvard University’s Proving Ground. These partnerships have helped reduce absenteeism by 11% over the past two years through rewards for regular attendance and targeted interventions. The district also uses tools like the Parent Square App to manage class cuts and improve communication with parents.
