A family who says the Cleveland Metropolitan School District was partially responsible for their 11-year-old son’s death plans to take their case to the state’s highest court. Last month, the 8th Ohio District Court of Appeals ruled against the family of Yaniel Rivera, who died in 2022 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It said the district had immunity from the lawsuit.
