CINCINNATI, Ohio-Today, First Student, a leading North American school transportation provider, received $200 million from the EPA’s Clean School Bus Program, bringing its total funding to over $400 million. This new funding will allow First Student to add up to 670 electric school buses across 45 U.S. school districts, part of a broader effort to deploy over 1,200 electric buses. The investment supports First Student’s goal of transitioning 30,000 diesel buses to electric by 2035, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve environmental conditions. First Student has already deployed over 350 electric buses, and this latest funding will accelerate their electrification efforts. The Clean School Bus Program helps school districts replace diesel buses with zero-emission vehicles and supports charging infrastructure development.
