WESTERVILLE, Ohio-David Cantrell, a former daycare worker in Westerville, received a two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to endangering children. Initially facing charges of gross sexual imposition, Cantrell’s plea did not include a sexual component, sparing him from registering as a sexual offender.
The case stemmed from a complaint in June 2022, alleging Cantrell inappropriately touched a 3-year-old girl while assisting her in the restroom at Nest Schools. Despite Cantrell’s denial of any sexual misconduct, concerns about his behavior prompted numerous calls to Westerville police from parents. During sentencing, the victim’s family expressed disappointment in the investigative process, citing language barriers. Cantrell’s attorney acknowledged his client’s wrongdoing in creating a potentially harmful situation but disputed any sexual intent.
